Anyone who owns the iPhone 5 can speak to its strength. While it is not recommended that users test it, the iPhone 5 seems to generally be able to withstand a couple of drops here and there. The question is, can the new iPhones show this same sort of toughness? Are they going to become easily scratched up if they are left to sit in your purse or pocket? Are they going to require professionals services if they become wet or dropped?

The answer is simple.

It is important to take care of your device, no matter how new it is. Your iPhone should have a cover and you should be sure to keep the screen protected, because without the screen, you become “out of touch”, so to speak. No matter how much you spent on your device and regardless of how new it is, it needs to be protected.

What about the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C, both of which have differences when it comes to cameras and then a couple of other minor improvements? While they come very close to the iPhone 5 in terms of durability, they both scored a bit lower when tested (they were dropped and put in water to see what the results would be). No expensive device should be purposely dropped or put in liquid, but regardless, these two models didn’t fare as well as the iPhone 5 when put through testing. So, if you know that you are a bit clumsy or if you know that you have a personal history of mistakenly breaking phones, the iPhone 5 might be your best bet if you are looking for something durable. Just be sure to respect your device and take extra measures to take care of it (think, screen covers and protection cases. Also, don’t just throw your phone into your purse. Keep a separate area available for it where your keys and coins can’t scratch it).
